How do we know that we are following God's direction?

How do we know that we are following God's direction?

I always hear from my Christian friends that we must follow God's direction. We must pray and ask for God's confirmation. We must do what God wants us to do.

I often wonder how do we really know if we are doing what God wants us to do, am I really on the right direction. How do I know?

I fear that I am not doing what God wants me to do.

Is it that if I will feel at peace with my decision, that means that I am following what God wants me to do?

How do I really know?

I often wonder, I still have fear and sometimes I am doubtful but I have faith that no matter what happens, as long as I have God with me, I am safe.

Let me know if any of you know, how we know if you have God's confirmation on your decisions.

Much of God's direction is in the bible.

Perhaps I can share with you a verse that my pastor shared with me...

Acts 16:
7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. 8 So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas. 9 During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

Paul had plans to enter Bithynia... but God stopped him. It appears that there is nothing wrong with making plans that are not offensive to God... until the Spirit instructs otherwise.

James also tells us to make human plans humbly, "If it is the Lord's will". :)
